What’s the capacity of The Brownstone at Glencoe Mill?
We can accommodate up to 175 seated and 215 standing.

What’s the rental fee for an event at The Brownstone at Glencoe Mill?
Our rental rates vary based on the day of the week and the type of event.  Please send us an email detailing the date, nature of your event and estimated attendance, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.  You may also call our office, Mon – Thurs 8:00 am – 8:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am – 2:00 pm, at 336-281-2003.

What is included with each reservation?
When you book your wedding or social event at The Brownstone, we include all of your event essentials to eliminate the need to rent certain items unless you wanted to upgrade. All wedding or social event reservations include: banquet tables, cocktail tables, chiavari chairs, linen tablecloths and napkins (in black, white or ivory), Dinnerware, Stainless Flatware, Glassware (water and wine glasses), setup and takedown. Upgraded items can be rented through Something Borrowed Party Rentals. Corporate reservations include tables, chairs, setup and takedown. Media services are available. Additional fees apply.

How do I book a date?
A non-refundable 50% deposit is due to secure wedding dates and a non-refundable deposit equaling 2 hours of the rental fee is due for social events, corporate events and other non-wedding related events. The remaining balance is due 30 days before the event. The Brownstone at Glencoe Mill accepts cash, checks, money orders and all major credit cards. Checks are not accepted for final balances.

What is your cancellation policy?
All sales are final. Once you are booked there is no refund of money upon cancellation or rescheduling. If you decide to reschedule the date of your event, you may do so pending availability. We will not charge a fee for rescheduling but if a date is rescheduled more than once, we will assess a $500 re-booking fee for the date change.

Are there any restrictions on vendors I can use?
We do have a list of Event Partners who we highly recommend, trust to provide excellent service and already have insurance on file at the venue. However, we pride ourselves on being flexible and accommodating; you may use the vendors of your choice with the exception of rental items (i.e furniture, glassware, flatware, etc.). Rental items must be sourced through either The Brownstone or Something Borrowed Party Rentals.

Can I Bring in an outside Caterer?
We do allow outside catering; however, we require a licensed and insured professional catering company who works out of a commercial grade kitchen. We also require your caterer to have a copy of their insurance on file with the venue listing us as additional insured.

Am I responsible for clean-up?
The Brownstone at Glencoe Mill will clean the space before and after your event: sweeping, mopping, detailing the bathrooms, and taking care of any necessary repairs.  We will also set up/breakdown the tables, chairs, linen, dinnerware, glassware and flatware we provide. However, you (or your caterer) must complete the following breakdown procedures immediately following your event:
• All centerpieces, candles, additional décor and alcohol must be removed from tables.
• Food and drink must be removed from kitchen and all trash must be removed and placed in the large format trash receptacle outside of the Brownstone on the River Road side of the building. Kitchen must be cleaned and left in the same condition it was originally presented prior to your event.

Is there a dressing area onsite?
Yes.  We have a fully appointed bridal suite complete with a private bathroom and shower. Many couples use our bridal suite to relax with their wedding party before the main event, and some couples use it as a place to sneak away during the reception. There are many creative ways to use the space.

Do I need to provide my own insurance?
At least 30 days prior to your event, we require you or your vendors to provide a certificate of insurance to keep on file that covers them and names The Brownstone at Glencoe Mill as additional insured.  Your caterer may be able to add your vendors as additional insured to their policy. We require $1M general aggregate / $1M per occurrence including property damage. Your policy should include Host Liquor Liability if you are serving alcohol.  We recommend wedsafe.com or privateeventinsurance.com. The policy will cost approximately $175 and can be purchased up to 24 hours before your event. Please have a copy of the policy sent directly to your event manager at The Brownstone.

What is your alcohol policy?
If you are planning on serving anything other than beer, wine and champagne at your event, The Brownstone at Glencoe Mill requires all clients to go through Toast It Up, LLC,  a bartending company that has partnered with The Brownstone. Toast It Up, LLC is required to serve and control all alcohol other than beer, wine and champagne at The Brownstone at Glencoe Mill. Please contact them for more information. Toast It Up, LLC alcohol policies are subject to state laws.

Is there a kitchen?
The Brownstone includes a sizeable prep kitchen.

Can the caterer cook at the venue?
The Brownstone provides a prep space, however it does not come equipped with a stove or oven. The prep space is ideal for preparing cold items and placing warm items in chaffing dishes. Caterers or restaurants should be prepared to bring the food in hot boxes to keep it warm for your event.

Where do my guests park?
There is a designated parking lot for The Brownstone at Glencoe Mill as well as overflow parking spaces on River Road.   

Does the building have heat and A/C?
Yes.

Do you allow candles?
Yes, as long as they are housed in containers that are taller than the candles to catch the wax and so the flames are not exposed.

Do you allow animals?
With the exception of service animals, we do not allow animals.

What if I need more time to set up?
That’s the beauty of The Brownstone. We take care of all of the set-up and breakdown of the items included in our packages. In our vast experience in the event industry, we have found that it is stressful for both the event host and the vendors to try to complete everything. This causes your caterer to be rushed, doesn’t allow much time for the setup of personal items, and it adds undue stress. For this reason, we truly mean it when we say, “You bring the photographer, caterer, music, flowers and guests, The Brownstone will take care of the rest”.

Is the building wheelchair accessible?
Yes.

How many bathrooms are there?
Three (3) individual, unisex bathrooms, all of which are wheelchair-accessible.
